Hi steemians,

Today I will be sharing stories about the awesomeness of the aceh tsunami waves dragged the large ships weighing 2,600 tons.

On Sunday, 26th of December 2004, the awesomeness of the tsunami waves that hit the north coast of Banda Aceh was still leaving traces. Not only is still imprinted in the memory, the tsunami also left traces in the form of monuments. Monument to be a warning for anyone against the powerful forces of nature.

One of them is a monument of DIESEL POWER (Diesel power plant) Floating in the village of Punge, Blancut, Banda Aceh. As the name implies, this ship is a source of electric power for the citizens in the region of Ulee Lheue – place the ship was moored before the tsunami.

The ship with a length of 63 meters is able to produce power of 10.5 megawatts. With extensive reach 1,900 square metres and weighs 2,600 tonnes, nobody imagined this ship can move up to the middle of the city of Banda Aceh.

When the tsunami occurred on December 26, 2004, the ship was dragged down a tidal wave of as high as 9 meters so it shifts to the heart of the city of Banda Aceh as far as 5 kilometers away. The ship crashing into the middle of the settlement of citizens, not far from the Tsunami.

Of the 11 crew members and some residents who were on the boat when the tsunami happened, only one man survived. The phenomenon of shifting the ship demonstrates the power and strength of the waves that hit Serambi Makkah.

Currently, the area around the Floating DIESEL POWER has been reorganized into a vehicle of education. In memory of the victims who fell in the aftermath of the tsunami, the Memorial was built. At the monument, inscribed the date and time of occurrence of the accident that also afflicts several countries besides Indonesia.

Around the monument, built a wall with the reliefs resembling waves of the flood. From the top of the ship, visitors can also see the Barisan mountain range.
