The Great Poste d'Alger is a neo-Moorish building built in Algiers in 1910 by the architects Henri-Louis dit Jules Voinot and Marius Toudoire, which houses the Algerian postal services in the heart of the city of Algiers, Algeria.

The construction of public mail began as a luxury palace in 1910 and was completed three years later by builders and architects in the coordination of the building's courtyards, columns and ceilings, which are decorated with Arab and Andalusian decoration. The central post office gradually turns into a unique architectural masterpiece.

-Prestige of the place:
To access the Central Post Office is a special prestige. As you climb up the stone staircase to the building so that you feel the respect you have, to impose a ritual in the preview of the building, your eyes will sniff the spaciousness of the place and the high ceiling that makes your neck go up to the top. The glass or the wooden windows that have highlighted their charms paintings that are very masterful and barely touch the earth until you receive the wooden decorations that are set in the windows of the reception that invite you to reflect on the ability of man to turn the stumps of wood deaf to carvings and inscriptions Magnificence and creativity.

The central post office is surrounded by large squares and singing gardens, with an eternal smile made by the different colors of roses and flowers, which vary according to the seasons between the cold and the sea. The spring brings a beautiful carpet of natural colors to the children And cars.

-The inside of the Great Poste of algiers:

I have taken these pictures exclusive to the central post in Algiers, having been closed since July 2015 to be converted into a museum.

-The first postal museum in Algeria:
Three years ago, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the independence of Algeria, the Ministry of Post and Communications decided to allocate the central post office to the first postal service museum in Algeria, while maintaining some postal services inside this old building, allowing visitors to view the history of mail and communications in the world and in Algeria Of the old equipment for lightning, telephone, hand money or letter authentication, as well as various offers of postal agents and other devices.

Postage stamps:
The visitor to the stamp exhibition at the Algerian Post Museum visits different epochs from the philatelic industry and learns about the periods that the industry has known in different shapes, sizes and colors and learns how this service becomes a stand-alone art that offers a lot of knowledge, science and history. Hundreds of postage stamps You can follow the developments in Algerian society by looking at the components and contents of postage stamps that have been accurately dated to all the stages experienced by the modern Algerian state.
The history of the Algerian stamp has had distinct periods. From 1849 to 1924, the stamps of the occupant were used. The year 1924 saw the issuance of two categories of stamps:

Stamps marked Post Algeria and the initials RF (French Republic)
Stamps bearing the legend French Republic and the mention Algeria and that until 1958.
From 1958 to 1962, it was the stamps in use in France that circulated in Algeria.

At independence, our country temporarily used 5 postage stamps (from 05 July to 31 October 1962) and 5 stamps (from 05 July to June 1963). These French stamps previously used in Algeria have seen the references "French Republic" stripped and replaced by the inscription E.A (Algerian State).

Here is the mythical 1 + 9, the 1st stamp of independent Algeria.Mythique by its Price, its number of copies, ..

On 1 November 1962, the first stamp of the Algerian Republic was issued.
This stamp commemorates the 8th anniversary of the Revolution, and is said to be "A New Nine," because at its 1F face value was added a 9F surcharge for the children of Chouhadas.
Although it has not been a technical success, this stamp is interesting and by its odds, because of its limited edition and its content.
Indeed, it places the place of Algeria, an independent country in the world, already affirming its belonging to the Third World and the Arab-Islamic community.
