In the hills suspected as the center of the Lamuri Islamic Kingdom, archaeologists see there are about 474 ancient tombs with tombstones engraved with Arabic Jawi script.
A total of 11 archeologists from Aceh and Malaysia who conducted research on the traces of the Lamuri Kingdom relics found a number of artifacts and graves in the hills of Kreung Raya, Lamreh Village, Masjid Raya District, Aceh Besar District, Aceh.

The research we have done since last Monday to today by way of excavating three dots. From the results of this temporary test for seven days, we found many pieces of ceramics, pottery originating from China, Vietnam and Thailand and the shells and bones of animals suspected of remaining relics in the past, "said Dedi Satria, archaeologist who became Coordinator Lamuri Research Team, Tuesday (13/3/2018).

When examined, on the headstone was written the names of important figures in the Islamic Kingdom Lamuri the past.
"There are many graves at the site, about 474. But those who use gravestones with Jawi Arabic carvings are about 80 tombstones that we suspect are important people in the Lamuri Islamic jurisprudence, such as Malek Zailal Abidin and Malek Jawaluddin," he said. .

The research was conducted to reveal the historical facts of the Lamuri Kingdom that has been known since 12 centuries ago.
According to Dedi, the study was conducted in the hilly area flanked by a bay above the height of 40 meters from the surface of the Krueng Raya Sea was conducted by researchers from Aceh and Malaysia.

"Lamuri has been discussed by the outsiders more than 12 centuries ago, such as the Middle East, Arab and Europe so it is important for us to re-examine the Islamic Kingdom Lamuri," said Dedi.

Based on some historical guidance ever reported by a number of outsiders both in Asia and Europe, the Islamic Kingdom of Lamuri in the past had become the center of world trade activity in the past because it is located in the strategic shipping network of the world.

"In the past, outer nations have been preaching the existence of Lamuri that we capture as a center of world trade in the past," he said.~

The study of the Lamuri Islamic Kingdom involved eleven Aceh and Malaysian archaeologists and was supported by Syiah Kuala University and Universiti Sains Malaysia.
