Even with the big grammar, I can't confuse a lot of people to not thinking this is a crocodile. Even the name I'm using to confuse you guys doesn't sound confusing. But either way, I'll talk about the artistic drawing of this crocodile. With the aid of some drawing materials like the flat pencil, I was able to make a quick search of this reptile.

Drawing Materials
  • A4 paper
  • Flat Pencil with eraser
  • Picture of the reptile on my phone
  • My phone as camera

These were the only three materials I used for my drawing. I used the pencil and eraser to made shadings and visible lines. Even though it's not HB, it gave me a Hit I could barely imagine. I'm not a drawer. I barely know how to draw. I only know design in the drawing that's why you may find the drawing beautiful but not accurate. The picture on my phone was to aid me in drawing the Crocodile as I can't just picture the drawing in my head. These are the tools or materials that helped me a lot.

Steps in drawing

The first step I took in drawing this reptile was getting a full glimpse of the animal. I needed to know how it lies, either horizontally or vertically and I need a full glimpse of its face, eyes and body structure in my head. It took me about 5 minutes to observe this reptile. I then started.

  • Starting with the face helped me overcome the major challenge that comes with drawing as the face was more prominent and difficult to draw that other parts of the body. It's the face everyone sees and funny enough, I started there with my first good hand of drawing. The first step of a learner is always with the most difficult part because as you progress, your drawing skills begin to die. So I used all my energy and wasted on the face. This is my plain sheet and pencil when trying to make a sketch in my head.

  • I saw different pictures of the crocodile online, ones with open jaws and this with a closed jaw. I decided to draw this one with a closed jaw as it was looking difficult and fierce. I started out by sketching the face and the entire body first to get the size so I won't focus on drawing the head so big that it can't contain the A4 paper used in drawing. After making my first sketch to fit the size of the crocodile, I then moved on to sketching the head which was my main focus or target so to speak.

  • I drew the eyes, the nose and the chisel-like mouth. Like I said, it wasn't easy at first but i then overcame it by designing the crocodile to look more unique, still with its fierce look. The eye part was kinda difficult for me but i took particular attention into giving it details as provided in the picture. The crocodile is known for this star-like pupil in its eyes. I made sure I gave details in that aspect. Additionally, I made the designs with my pencil to look more like the hard surface and of the crocodile face which makes it mean and fierce when afloat on water in search of prey.

  • Moving on, I stole the show in drawing the hand for the first time. I'm not really good at drawing the hands of anything be it a person or animal. I usually have some faults in the hands looking man-made. The first and second hands of the crocodile were drawing somehow perfectly well by me and I gave myself some appraisal for that. I made the claws look sharp and rigid from the lateral view. I also drew its throat or gut which most reptiles have though some don't have extended guts like that of the crocodile while other reptiles don't even have it at all.

  • After drawing the overlayed throat, I moved to draw the body and also created those feasible designs on its back. This was a part that consumed my time sincerely. I never thought I would stay a long time drawing this reptile. It needed particular details and attention. I then moved over to drawing the fore limbs of the crocodile before drawing the tail and its enlarged body. It wasn't that easy though but was manoeuvred. The tail gave me some restraints as there was a curve and some hard creative parts to patch up. Anyways, we're good. So inside some finishing touches and made my way to signing a done deal.

Unique characteristics of the Crocodile I drew

The crocodile is a reptile and falls under the family name Crocodylus. Crocodiles are known to be aquatic and terrestrial animals though they survive mostly in water rather than land or in moist areas where water has to be seen and not completely dry otherwise they'll die. They have this special adaptive mechanism which helps it survive both on land and in water. The hard part of its back is a predation mechanism against predators who may want to swallow or chew the animal. The horny-like structure makes it difficult to contain in the throat of animals who swallow other animals. This mechanism or feature helps it survive predators. You can't easily kill a crocodile from its body except the belly side which it uses to walk and besides, it's very difficult to see a crocodile lie on its belly so casually.

They have an enlarged mouth that's capable of swallowing sizable animals. Their teeth are far more stronger and sharper than that of a lion if put together. They may have claws to attack but the mouth does the worst. With one bite on your skin, it's difficult to survive. One bite can cut if your hand if care isn't taken and once they attack a prey, they drag into the water body so it would be difficult to escape. They usually disguise themselves in a way that animals who drink water by most water bodies won't know there's a predator there until it strikes. It's also very fast in walking and running.

This is a full drawing of the crocodile as my hands could favour me
