Laugavegurhike, Iceland

Loved this hike, it starts in Landmannalaugar and ends in Thórsmörk.  I basicly packed my backpack and went, but you have to be prepared, you will need a tent, food and a good condition.  

As i went alone and didn't know what to expect, i was a bit nervous.  So i took a day at the Landmannalaugarcampsite to compose myself and took some small hikes in the surrounding area.

Next day my trial began across the Icelandic highlands, remember that some plastic bags might come in handy when you have insulation problems like i had, you can wear them in your shoes.

You follow a guided trail from one campsite to the next, there are also wooden huts, but these need to be asked for in advance.  My first stage however from Landmannalaugar to Hrafntinnusker, i was met with iceystormweather and i had to sleep in the hut.

The second stage leads you from Hrafntinnusker to Álftavatn and then Thórsmörk.

A GPS might come in handy as heavy fog might appear and the trailmarks become hard to spot.

The landscape soon gets out of this world with amazing colours,

As you climb higher in the mountains,

And then i slowly ran into an icestorm, so it's a good idea to leave from a campsite around the same time as  other campers, you usually find eachother.

So after sleeping in the hut, we group'd up, we certainly didn't lose eyesight of eachother.

However my new friends and me went downhill from now and weather soon became better.

Arrived at Álftavatn, located at a lake.

And on to Thórsmörk,

you will see different geological formations during the hike, it's a constant change of scenery, so easy on the eye,

You can continue this hike for two more days to Skógar, but for me it was enough.

So i guess it was an experience of a lifetime, but please inform yourself, take a look at websites, take a map, proper clothing.

Stay calm, remain on the trail, somebody will appear soon enough from the other direction or behind you.
