My families summer adventure in the mountains. Part 2.

8 days hiking in the Northern Norway and Sweden,

Day 4-5

We are now 3 days march deep in the mountains and far away from any bus or train, (with emergency it is possible to call for help from the cabins and be evacuated by helicopter though) We choosed to walk sidetracks, because of less people and possibilities to see more of the mountains.

I must warn you about quite many pictures, I had a "hard" time to choose which to share. I decided to leave it up to you to take a look at some, none or all of them. Hope you don't got tired, I wish you luck and cross my fingers :-).

Day 4, Sälka to Nallo cabin, 10 km.

When we came to the cabin in Sälka after 12 hour, hot, tired and quite hungry and should got a bed we saw they had cold soda and beer. Oh my god, can you feel the feeling... cold beer!
After a good nights sleep we woke up to a cloudy and rainy day heading for the cabin in the Nallo valley. Even it was rain in the air it was a great leg. Fog and mist in the steep, majestic, wild and mystic mountains gave a great feeling of be in the wilderness and feel how small we humans are.

The cabins in Sälka, and remember, you can by beer :-) Thea and Nero is on their way. Nero was not affraid to cross any of the brides during the hike. One time he was unsure, then we walked in front and he boldly followed. Clever dog!

We all need a brake and some food.

The lakes and rivers have a green colour. This is because the water in the rivers contains very finely ground sand/clay from the surrounding glaciers.

Day 5, Nallo to Vista, 11,5 km.

Todays leg go down the Nallo valley, The weather was better and we could see the top of the mountains. Wow, I like them and enjoyed the sight the whole day. Amaaaaazing.

One of many glaciers. You can see the moraine in front of it made by the glacier. The moraine consists of stone and sand and marking where the ice have been earlier. In the recent years the glaciers is melting.

Nero found quickly a technique to take small rest by lying down, and the weight of the pack is gone, (he carry only 4 kilo on this hike, as adult he can carry around 6-7 kg.)

The view down to the Vistas valley

The Vistas cabin where we stayed over night can be seen across the valley. The next leg goes up this valley to the left, but today is today and we will continue tomorrow up this beautiful valley to Alesjaure and Abisko where the hike ends in 3 days. I hope you still hanging on and will follow our hike furter.
