Top of the chain ladder. Drakensberg Mountains South Africa

It is well worth the effort to climb the Chain Ladder to get onto the top of the Drakensberg Mountains. There are two chain ladders side by side.
From the car park it is a fairly easy day walk to the top and back via the chain ladder. For the more adventures you can plan hiking expeditions for any number of days exploring the top of the Drakensberg Mountains.
Just a word of caution, weather conditions can be very extreme so necessary equipment is recommended for every eventuality if planning to sleep out. This is why I so much like this day hike as you don't need to carry too much equipment. Your day food, water and a rain coat is normally all you need to carry. You keep an eye out on the weather and come down if bad weather approaches.
