Saturday Hash #1502 - Hare="Skidmark"

Unfortunately for the Saturday run we were facing a the early arrival of pretty bad air quality. AQI readings were about 3 times as bad as they tend to be this time of year and I hope this is not a sign of things to come. Chiang Mai air quality is expected to be poor from Feb to April but in the past Dec and January were still pretty good before burning season. Let's hope this is just a temporary anomoly.

"SkidMark" and his son "Sin Bin" were our hares today and due to the level of experience that Skiddy brings to the table we had expected a decent run. Our hopes were unfounded though because it was just as terrible as any other run he has set. At least we could understand what he was saying during the hare brief, which is already better than we expected from him.

The trail ended up being mostly covered, which wasn't really a factor since there was very little in the way of sunlight getting through and we also had a bit of rain.

We we can see a bunch of lazy bastards just standing around chatting when they are supposed to be searching for the trail. Some people just can't be helped. It begs the question of why they came here at all.

Here you can see how bad the AQI actually was as it is not dusk but rather around 430 in the afternoon. I certainly hope this improves because the Chiang Mai community is where a lot of us call home and therefore it would be a real shame if this became a year round phenomenon instead of seasonal. I think we would lose a lot of our members.

I have no idea who this little fella is or how he game to be part of the team. After about a km in he was renamed as "trailhound" and that worked for everyone involved methinks.

All in all, it was a pretty great trail and our thanks goes out to Skidmark and the family for helping all of us to get a bit of exercise into our boozy Saturday.
