Hexabot taught me a lesson - Enjoy the little things in life
This was very needed in my life right now
This week has been extremely stressful for me with the whole hexabot scam bulls**t, but this right here sitting in this coffee shop, listening to a live band, researching platforms and ico's, writing to my fellow steemians, makes me forget this shit-tastic week. If you have never listened to a live band in a coffee shop I HIGHLY recommend!
Many of you fellow steemians have probably heard the news, and possibly fell into the trap that was HEXABOT. Ughhhh where do I start. So I started with my crypto experience this past summer, slowly putting money into ether until I had about 1.4 ether, a decent amount for a fellow cryptonewb like myself. I later converted that to about 6 LTC. That 6 LTC took me all summer to accumulte, and I was pretty happy with where I was sitting. I read great things about litecoin coming up and I wanted to ride that train. This is around the time I got more into lending platforms and ico's. This is where the trouble started. Me being a cryptonewb I dumped all my litecoin into hexabot because of a friend that heard good things about it. Everything went great for about 2 weeks, I had profited about 2 ltc in that span of time. So I was feeling pretty good.
The mood darkens - and this is where I lost it
As I'm sure we've all heard, that's when hexabot went offline due to "problems". The community chat was taken away on reddit, and people after this were unable to withdraw their funds. As of now the sight is still offline and there is still some hope according to some reddit posts that have gotten in contact with "Peter" and he says to not panic because it has something to do with the bitcoin transactions. That was a few days ago, so my faith is slowly dissipating, but it is still threads of hope there at the moment.
Even if "Peter" is true to his word and gets hexabot back online, I see a majority of people taking their funds out as soon as possible, thus making hexabot useless if it cannot hold its clientele base. So in my opinion, scam or not, hexabot is dead, gone, finished, forever in infamy.
In the end, I lost about 700 dollars in LTC and 150 in BTC, but this won't deter me from investing in cryptos, not even close. If anything this taught me an important life lesson of not having all your eggs in one basket, and if a lending platform says it guarantees a daily payout of over 2.5%/day it is more than likely a ponzi XD. I guess we all live and learn
Life is 20% what happens and 80% how we react to it
So bet your ass I'm going to hit it hard again, BUT this time I'll do a little more research before investing heavily into a platform or ico I'm unfamiliar with.... as everyone should do.
How much have you guys, in the community, lost using hexabot or any other ponzi schemes? I want to hear your guys's stories. Also, anyone have any tell tale signs of ponzi schemes that they want to share? I'm sure everyone reading this would be greatly appreciated. Stay careful and alert out there folks. It's a cutthroat cryptoworld if you're not careful!
As always, stay classy steemians
