I just wrote a large article with pictures and everything. accidentally hit the clear link and lost it all. I had a backup without pictures and captions saved on word doc but can't paste......this is unbelievably frustrating.

I have been trying to get them to add safety check in that feature, something like 'are you sure you want to clear?" before actually deleting it all.
We will see what happens in the future but I'm hoping for it.

You're not alone, I've done that before too. Steemit has something in the works to get that fixed.
sooooo irritating.....is there anyway to recover? I noticed steemit autosaves everything.
Not that I'm aware of
command z will undo that on my mac at least
