For The Newbies: How To Buy & Withdraw STEEM Using Blocktrades
Hey guys! Recently, I have been dedicating my time to the Steemit help/support channels and one of the most asked questions I get is, how do you deposit or withdraw STEEM? Well, let me show you how to do that today, step by step! First, we'll begin with depositing STEEM, then we will do withdrawing STEEM!
How To Buy STEEM/STEEM Power
If you live in America and even outside of America if your country allows it, I recommend buying Bitcoin from Coinbase as it's instant or you can go on localbitcoins.com and buy some BTC, but it will take some time for it to arrive.
1. Navigate to Coinbase
Like I said before, you will be buying the BTC from coinbase.com if you want an instant trasaction. So, what you will need to do is create a Coinbase account (BTW, if you click this link, you get a free $10 worth of BTC when you buy $100). After creating the Coinbase account, you will navigate over to the Buy/Sell tab. When you are on the Buy/Sell tab, it will ask you to enter your credit/debit card or a bank account to buy BTC. If you don't want to wait 7-10 days, buy the BTC using credit/debit, but if you are fine with waiting 7-10 days, buy the BTC with your bank account. Please keep in mind that your credit/debit limit will be much lower than mine since you just opened your account. There are a couple ways to increase your limits, including verification, but I had to wait quite a long time to increase my limits to $3000 USD a week. Other wise, you can purchase just BTC with your bank and you will have a lot higher limit than you do with credit/debit cards right away.
2. After Buying BTC, Navigate To Blocktrades.us
Okay, now that you have purchased your BTC, please navigate over to Blocktrades.us. On this page, you will need to change the receive from BitShares to STEEM, and you will need to enter the amount of BTC you are willing to pay for STEEM. Next, you will enter you STEEM account username, for me, it's theprophet0, and if you'd like a memo, you may use a memo. After those steps, you will simply click, get deposit address. Copy this address and we will go on to the next step.
3. Click On The Send/Request Tab On Coinbase
Okay, so once you have copied the address, navigate back over to Coinbase. Click on the send/request tab and paste your address that you copied into the the spot where it says "Email or bitcoin address". Enter the same quantity of BTC that you entered on Blocktrades.us and simply press send! In two hours or less, you will see STEEM on your Steemit account, wohoo!
With this STEEM, you may power it up to STEEM Power if you want to be in STEEM for the long haul and earn rewards for voting on blogs and making your vote worth something.
How To Withdraw STEEM/SBD from Steemit.com
1. Navigate To Your Wallet
You can navigate to your wallet by clicking on your little profile picture, by default it's a head, and when you click on it, click on the fifth option labeled "Wallet". In your wallet you will be able to see your STEEM, STEEM Power, and SBD.
2. Go To Blocktrades.us
So, when withdrawing STEEM/SBD, just do the opposite of what you did to deposit. First, switch the send from BTC to STEEM, and switch the receive from Bitshares to BTC. Next, you will need to get your deposit address from your Coinbase account.
3. Navigate Back To Coinbase
When you have navigated back to Coinbase, please click on the "Accounts" tab. On this tab, you will see your BTC wallet. Go to the right of the page and click on "Get bitcoin address". Make sure to copy this BTC address, then you'll go back to Blocktrades.us and paste your address where it says "Your receive address". After a few hours, you will see your BTC in your Coinbase account! Keep in mind that you can sell your BTC on your Coinbase to your bank account or your PayPal account, or you can get a SHIFT card, and you will never have to withdraw your money, you can use the SHIFT card as a debit or credit card and it hooks up to your Coinbase account!

Just a tip: You might could also compare the total cost looking at the double exchange using GDAX to go to LTC and the transfer fees to buy Steem using coinbase... sometimes its cheaper to swap to LTC and transfer resulting in more total Steem. I'd be glad to post on how to compare if someone wants.

up voted and followed from five months ago. lol. if you are still checking this i would like to know how to make that comparison. it seems to me if i have 100 dollars of btc and and turn into 100 dollars worth of ltc i would be recieving almost an identical amount of steem either way? but i am a newb sooo... thx man, relish.
Just started a steem sell at blocktrades to deposit at coinbase ltc acc. Not seeing conformations yet after about 15 min. Steem ballance still unchanged in Steemit wallet also. Does blocktrades send a trans initiated email or somthing?
This is just what I was looking for! I just made my first transfer (-> Blocktrades -> Coinbase) and I see it pending right there. They still haven't confirmed my ID though, but I read that this could take a while.
