It shows the post to your followers, but the original poster is the one who gets paid from the upvotes, not you.
It's a very nice thing to do "for free" for an important post that you want to help go viral for someone else.

When you resteem a post, It shows on your feed that you have resteemed it! Just like a retweet!

I wondered about this as well. What is the cost of re-steeming something? It asks "are you sure" which makes me wonder if there is a cost.

"Are you sure" means did you hit this by accident. Do you really want to repost a link to someone else's blog on your own blog. That's all.
