Running out of Bandwidth? Here's Why

The idea of bandwidth on Steemit is intended to filter-out spammers. You can either "Power Up" your bandwidth by purchasing STEEM or earn it from others who upvote and re-Steem your posts. There are Steem "bots" that go around upvoting posts for newbies, thus adding STEEM to their account, resulting in increased bandwidth, but with the massive influx of new users, these "bots" can't keep up. The Minnow Project tries to address this, and has set up a registration process to get noticed by their "bots," but the Steem network seems to be in need of a serious increase in processing "horsepower." The "Witness" program is another attempt to help Newbies (aka. Minnows) get started, while at the same time making it difficult for spammers and spambots.

If you haven't posted anything on your Steem blog, yet, now would be a good time to do so. The Steem-bots can't send you STEEM if there is nothing for them to upvote.
