traveler
A traveler is one who visits the place to learn about the culture, to learn about the people, to understand the place and what makes the people tick in there.
A traveler is different from a tourist. A tourist goes there to visit the place, take pictures, eat all the fancy stuff, and just want to get comfy and relax as it is a holiday.
A traveler's mindset is different. It is not telling people that you have been there and that you have some souvenirs to give them. A traveler actually mixes with the people in the city and talks to them. He interacts with them. He goes to the everyday market place and see what life is like there in the city. Tourist never goes to these everyday common market place. Tourists just go to these famous architectural places and monuments and are not interested in the people at all.
Next time when you go to a new city, visit there and start communicating with the local store manager, the local cashier, the local market people, etc. Be a traveler and find out what the people are like. Tourists have no interest in people. Never do that.
Travelers have a lot of momentos of memories of the time spent in the local places where people go to eat. Whereas tourists go to fancy restaurants that they can find even in their own city.
Travelers find special moments.
