naive

Naive is a word that originated from French (you can see the 2 dots on the i) and it is used to describe a person who is too simple minded as he lacks knowledge, therefore he does not have the maturity to handle situations in a proper manner.

"You are so naive!". Did you grow up with this strong statement from your parents? Nothing is so annoying and frustrating to a kid growing up to hear one's parents saying such words to them without ever explaining or teaching the child the proper way to see things and handle complex situations.

As a child, you tend to believe in adults and take in their words. When parents tell us that we are naive they should first teach us the principles behind the situation rather than scolding us and shaming us to low self esteem.

Don't you just hate this word?
