The cockroach

There are over 1000 species of cockroaches in the world and most are found in the tropics. The body of the mature cockroach is about 4cm long and as in all insects is divided into three regions; the head, the thorax and the abdomen . The head is joined by a narrow neck to the thorax. The whole body is covered by a dark-brown exo-skeleton. This exo-skeleton is made of chitin which is a tough, horny substance. It is thick and hard everywhere except at the joints where it is thin and more flexible.
Cockroaches mate, produce and live in hot environments that is why they can be found in soak-aways which are very hot
