Overview of Pesticides

Pesticides are either liquid, solid or gaseous substances which are used in fighting off pests and diseases especially on the farm.

These substances were introduced as a result of the harmful activities of pests on crops.

When these pests settle on the crops, they eat the leaves, or bore into the crops therefore making it unsuitable for consumption.

To fight off these and produce better crops, pesticides were then introduced.

These pesticides can be classified into herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and even rodenticides. They carry out different functions and works on different classes of pests.
