tinola
Tinola is an Asian chicken stew. This is a Filipino dish known since the Spanish period. During that time this is served as a soup at formal gatherings. Tinola is a popular dish in Filipino household since it is very easy to cook. In our family, a single week will not pass that we did not cook this.
Ingredients
1 kilo Chicken
malunggay
leaves or chili leaves
1 cup sliced sayote
or unripe papaya
cloves of garlic
onions
ginger
salt and pepper
How to cook
- Saute garlic, onion, ginger and chicken
- Put the desired amount of water
- Wait until it boils or when chicken is tender
- if you will use sayote put it in the soup when the chicken is almost tender
If you will use papaya boil it together with the chicken
Papaya takes longer to cook compared tosayote
- Put salt and pepper to taste
- Put chili leaves or
malunggay
leaves and turn off the fire
Tinola has this Asian taste because of the use of ginger. A hot bowl of this dish can sooth an aching throat and relieve you from sickness.
