"Mumshie" is a Filipino millennial term for mother. Here in the Philippines, the word mother and father has their own slang counterparts per generation. In the 70's, "ermat" and "erpat" are use to refer to mother and father respectively. By year 2000, "mudra" and "pudra" became popular to describe mama and papa. Just last year I guess, I started hearing "mumshie" referring to a mother. It is like mothers term for a freind who is a mother also. It is how mothers calls mother like her. However, I seldom I hear "papshie" as a partner for "mumshie". While the word mumshie is getting popularity, there are still Filipinos who used the word erpat, ermat, mudra and pudra.

Example:

  • Mumshie, I have new items here of cookware. Buy now and get big discounts. Isn't it havey or not?
  • I saw another mumshie atthe grocery store who is complaining of the sudden rise of the prices of grocery items
