The purpose of miracles

Greeting appreciated community.
Welcome to my blog

Acts 9: 35,42
God does not perform miracles in the world in order to entertain the curious. Herod was very happy when Pilate sent him to Jesus, because "I expected to see him make some sign". But Jesus, not wanting to satisfy his vain desires, remained silent and did not perform any miracles before the evil king (Luke 23: 8,9).

John made a simple and beautiful statement about the purpose of the miracles Jesus performed during his ministry (John 20:30, 21:25). The miracles that John included in his gospel had a central objective: "but these signs have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and so that by believing, you may have life in his name" 8John 20:31)

The result of the healing of the paralytic at the door of the temple was the salvation of many people in Jerusalem (facts 4.4). Luke tells us about the many signs and wonders that were made by the hands of the apostles after the incident of Hananiah and Saffira. Here we also see for miracles, because multitudes were converted to the Lord, in whose name all these things were made (acts 5: 12-16).
When Philip went to Samaria, God allowed his ministry to be filled with miracles and signs, which immediately made people's attention drawn to the gospel and converted to the Lord Jesus.

The miracles have served to open the way to the preaching of the gospel, this made people recognize that God is interested in helping the needy, these miracles also encouraged the faith of the people to receive salvation from God.
Miracles of healing can and should produce the same results today, any abuse of them is contrary to the purposes of God. Miracles must always be attributed to God, who works them. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
What we must do is to make sure that people give glory to the Lord for miracles, instead of giving it to the means that he uses for his realization. Most likely, God will bless us much more with healings and miracles if we are willing to give Him all the glory, as the early church did.

For example, Luke concentrates his attention on two miracles, when Aeneas got up from the bed where he had been bedridden for eight years, many of those who saw him became the Lord. ¿ Can you imagine what would happen in your city if people were preparing to bury a member of the church, and suddenly, this is resurrected by the power of God in response to the prayer of a servant of the Lord? this was the kind of miracle that shook the city of Joppa. As the people heard the news they went to the place of preaching and gave themselves to the Lord. It was the miracle that captivated the attention of the crowds, but really what the Lord was the salvation of souls. Dorcas's life was important, but it was also important that the people of Joppa be converted to Christ.

Jesus described his mission on earth with the following words: "For the son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). When he sent Peter to visit Lida and Joppa he went looking for the lost multitudes through his apostle. In performing the two miracles we have been talking about, he did it to attract the attention of the crowds, who may not have otherwise come to receive the salvation that is his name.

Hi @ricci01!

The miracles of healing prove that Jesus is the Lord and giver of life. The feeding of the five thousand shows that He is the sustainer of life. The healing of the man born blind indicates that He gives physical and spiritual sight. In each of His miracles Jesus demonstrates again and again that He does what the Father does (John 10:37).

Thank you for sharing this valuable teaching!

Our Lord Jesus Christ was not playing dice with his great power, when virtue came from Him, it was because someone really needed it. Good sister message
