How a Thor-Worshipping Religion Turned Racist

in #heathenism7 years ago

Heathens were traders. They traded with Africa, India, China, North America, and sometimes with Europe. If they had any issues with a culture it would be the Celts who dominated heathen lands for centuries before Rome mixed things up. On the open market trade won’t happen between people who do not see enough similarities to accept each other’s humanity.

Yes, we can see a short moment in history [18þ through 20þ centuries] where Germans felt superior and shaped their narrative to match and improve that meme.

It didn’t work so well.

On a side note: Forced association, in prison or school, will encourage herding. The collective memes of culture and religion aid that herding by including likes and excluding dislikes. In reality this becomes a ghetto, causing some to join groups to out of fear of what might happen if they don’t. If these herds do not trade, they will starve. In general society if I don’t like someone I can walk away. Schools and Prisons, not so much. That, my friend, is where Racism, any meme of supremacy begin.

On another side note: If an accident of birth, whether for skin color, economic or social status, is your only claim to merit, I morn for you. Your skin may dine with heroes in the shining halls of glory, yet the rest of you will scream in terror at Helheim’s cairn.
