🗣️SECRETS OF EFFECTIVE LEADERS💫
📜 TEXT:NUMBERS 27:1-8📜
🔑📖KEY VERSE:
"And Moses brought their cause before the LORD" (NUMBERS 27:5).
Successful leadership requires much more than occupying a position or bearing a title. It entails having an understanding of one's limitations and weaknesses and knowing how to leverage on the strength and support of others, whether they are one's superiors or juniors.
Our text revealed the sensitive and unusual request made to Moses the servant of God by the five daughters of Zelophehad, a man of the tribe of Manasseh. These ladies wanted Moses to allot them land (an inheritance) among their father's brothers since their late father had no son. This, they maintained, was to ensure that their father's name and possession was not lost among his brethren. Because Moses had not handled that kind of issue before, he assured the young women that he would bring their matter before God. God told him that the daughters of Zelophehad were right and he should allocate them land among their father's brothers.
Leaders must learn to be willing to admit it when they do not have immediate answers to the questions or enquiries of the people. It does not diminish their person or honour when they do so. Rather, it further earns them the respect of their followers and endears them to their hearts the more. Honesty and sincerity are of great importance in leadership. When leaders make mistakes in judgment and decisions, they should be willing to admit it. After all, leaders are humans too.
It is however important that leaders be willing to pay the price of diligently finding out what they do not know from God through prayers and proper study. This will save the leader from giving a wrong judgment or counsel.
✍🏽THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Humility makes our leadership style superb.

MEDITATION
TRAITS OF A GODLY LEADER
1. AVAILABILITY
Moses had a lot of things demanding his attention including the need for prayers, being a prayer warrior, yet he was available to people who needed his attention, vv1,2.
2. ACCESSIBILITY
One can be available without being accessible to common people. He was accessible to common people, vv1,2.
3. ASSOCIATION
Moses was not a lone ranger who saw himself ad above all. He listened to complaints, worked and made decisions alongside other workers, v2.
4. ANTIDISCRIMINATION
The Jews, by culture discriminated against the female gender. We could see that Moses was fair to all without partiality or gender biasedness, v5. A true godly leader abhors all forms of discrimination.
5. ATTENTIVENESS
The leaders listened attentively to the complaints of those ladies and acted dispassionately, vv3,5. A good leader is never "Mr. know it all". Also note that Moses could hear from God clearly and with rapt attention, v6,7. As a spiritual leaders hearing from God should be the norm.
6. ACCOUNTABILITY
A leader is both accountable to people s/he is leading and to God. They asked Moses "Why?". Some leaders hate being questioned, v4.
7. ACCEPTANCE
Moses accepted the will of God as final as it was given without modifying or debating it. He was also accepted by God. This is how you know a godly leader.
8. ADVANCEMENT
Moses was more spiritually advanced than all other Israelites. God preferred speaking to him above.

HYMN
OH TO BE LIKE THEE
- Oh! to be like Thee, blessed Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.
Refrain:
Oh! to be like Thee, oh! to be like Thee,
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.
Oh! to be like Thee, full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wand’ring sinner to find.
RefrainOh! to be like Thee, lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer, others to save.
RefrainOh! to be like Thee, Lord, I am coming,
Now to receive th’ anointing divine;
All that I am and have I am bringing,
Lord, from this moment all shall be Thine.
RefrainOh! to be like Thee, while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love,
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.
Refrain
