Study: Artificial Sweeteners Linked to Diabetes, Obesity

in #health6 years ago (edited)

ZERO-CALORIE ARTIFICIAL sweeteners meant to reduce consumption of sugar are being linked to diabetes and obesity.

A new study presented Sunday at the 2018 Experimental Biology meeting examined the biochemical effects of artificial sweeteners in rats and cell cultures. Researchers fed one group of rats a diet high in glucose or fructose, different types of sugars, and another group a diet with aspartame or acesulfame potassium, common zero-calorie artificial sweeteners. After three weeks, researchers observed "significant differences in the concentrations of biochemicals, fats and amino acids in blood samples," according to a press release.

The results of the study suggest artificial sweeteners alter how bodies process fat and obtain energy. Additionally, researchers discovered acesulfame potassium appeared to accumulate in the blood, with increased amounts having more harmful effects on cells that line blood vessels.

One of the authors, Brian Hoffmann, assistant professor in the department of biomedical engineering at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University, said sugar replacements aren't a solution to the diabetes and obesity epidemic.

Wouldn't that be par for the course if Corporations where pushing these "diet" drink on us only to make us fatter and less healthier. Look at big pharma and all the crap they push on us that suppose to fix a particular issue but has dozen different side effects so then you need more pills to combat those side effects. They get richer while we all suffer from the higher cost of health insurance and people seem to be getting sicker not healthier the more these drugs are used.

If people knew how they made Aspartame they would probably throw up and refuse to drink the stuff. It's not exactly made from a natural food source.

You are literally eating shit!

Aspartame is made from bacteria feces, patent confirms

What makes diet sodas taste sweet without all the sugar? The simple answer is artificial sweetener, but a patenthas confirmed what the commonly used sugar substitute aspartame is really made of: the feces of genetically modified E. coli bacteria.

According to the patent, which is available for the public to read online, genetically modified E. coli are cultivated in tanks and fed so that they can defecate the proteins that contain the aspartic acid-phenylalanine amino acid segment used to make aspartame. The proteins are then collected and treated in a process called methylation to produce the sweetener.

Pretty disgusting huh? Lots of things are sweet tasting but doesn't mean we should be drinking them or substituting nature sugars for them like anti-freeze. The worst part is Aspartame breaks down into very well know toxin for the body like Methanol and Phenylalanine.

Methanol is wood alcohol it's well know byproduct of alcohol production and causes blindness if you drink to much of it. Aspartame breaks down into Methanol at around 92 degrees and the average body temperature is 98.6 degrees.

Phenylalanine naturally occurs in meat, eggs and milk but it's also a neurotoxin and may cause ADHD if you consume to much of it. The Aspartame molecule is about 50% Phenylalanine and probably breaks down in the body just like Methanol does. One can only image what it does to the fetus of a pregnant women that drink a lot if diet sodas.

Do Artificial Sweeteners Harm Your Good Gut Bacteria?

Artificial sweeteners are synthetic sugar substitutes that are added to foods and drinks to make them taste sweet.

However, in recent years artificial sweeteners have generated controversy. People are starting to question whether they are as safe and healthy as scientists first thought.

One of their potential problems is that they may disrupt the balance of beneficial bacteria in your gut.

This article takes a look at the current research and examines whether artificial sweeteners change your gut bacteria, as well as how these changes might impact your health.

There's lots of problems associated with to much bad gut bacteria in the body. You want to be eating the stuff that bacteria feed on instead of eating and drinking the stuff that bacteria shit out. Personally I recommend people stay away from diet sodas, gum, mints and other foods that have these sugar substitutes in them. Reducing your cravings for sweets is probably the healthiest thing you can do for your body and never trust a manufactured food product over something you can grow in your own backyard.

"never trust a manufactured food product over something you can grow in your own backyard" - last statement summed it up. I also just found out that my diet soda is basically bacteria crap; definitely eliminating that now

Glad I could help inform you.

I could write a book about how much sugar messed up my insides, it would be a crude one though,,, I've been off it for a few months and it was life changing, been chugging "sugar free" zero calorie energy drinks as a substitute for my sweet tooth, not anymore. Is black coffee still good? I'm not getting through a day with 5 little kids tearing it up around here without some caffeine anytime soon unfortunately.

I'd say black coffee is probably 100 times better than diet sodas.
