What Is the Medulla Oblongata?
The medulla oblongata is a segment of the hindbrain that controls autonomic capacities, for example, breathing, absorption, heart and vein work, gulping, and wheezing. Engine and tactile neurons from the midbrain and forebrain go through the medulla. As a piece of the brainstem, the medulla oblongata helps in the exchanging of messages between different parts of the mind and the spinal line.
The medulla contains myelinated and unmyelinated nerve filaments. Myelinated nerves (white issue) are secured with a myelin sheath made out of lipids and proteins. This sheath protects axons and advances a more effective conduction of nerve driving forces than unmyelinated nerve filaments (dark issue). Various cranial nerve cores are situated in the dim matter of the medulla oblongata.
The upper area of the medulla frames the fourth cerebral ventricle. The fourth ventricle is a pit loaded with cerebrospinal liquid and is nonstop with the cerebral water passage. The lower segment of the medulla limits shaping segments of the focal trench of the spinal rope.
