Pica syndrome
Disorders and illnesses in the world are scarce. Some of them have an acute aspect, and others are easily treated. The outbreak of diseases usually follows specific rules and regulations, but sometimes we encounter some complications and disorders that are not well-justified and have no clear and logical reason.
People with pica syndrome have a tendency to eat non-edible substances
What is pica syndrome?
Pica is a food disorder that, as a result of it, is a strange and unusual person to eat non-fermented food.
People with Pica's syndrome tend to eat all kinds of items; from coins and cloths to cigarette butts!
"The Challenging Behavior Forum" is one of the centers that has been conducting extensive research into Pica's syndrome.
According to published research results, people with low learning skills are more likely to develop Pica syndrome.
Of course, eating non-edible foods is not specific to people with Pica's syndrome. It has often been observed that pregnant women also show intense relief from eating certain objects.
People with Pica's syndrome tend to eat strange objects; from screws and buttons to home furnishings.
Is Pica Syndrome Curable?
So far, NHS (Public Health Service) has not posed any definitive treatment for PIK syndrome; however, there are a number of solutions that may be effective in confronting this disorder.
One of these strategies is to use "cognitive-behavioral therapy" techniques. During the use of these techniques, the patient is first given an accurate knowledge of the current state of affairs. In the next step, the patient and the curative staff try to take steps to correct behavior.
Another solution is "personal psychotherapy." In this way, the patient is confronted with a problem with a specialist and takes a solution to her.
Dietary counseling and the use of "cognitive-analytic methods" can also be fruitful.
But of all this, the easiest and most accessible way to begin the treatment process is to go to a general practitioner and consult him for more specialized treatment steps.
