The mirror of truth

What a Sunday!

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and got disappointed with what you saw in front of you?

Leaving aside the obvious. You just woke up and haven’t brushed your hair; you have big bags under your eyes (and you are glad there is no one around).

The mirror never lies, and it doesn’t bullshit around; it doesn’t try to be politically correct when “he talks”; “he reveals” the hard truth as painful as it is. It is the best friend you can count on, that friend who hates hypocrisy. The friend who doesn’t talk but tells the truth.

The day was looking good.

It was a beautiful Sunday.

Hey, let’s go to the sauna with the family.

I took out my shirt, and there was a huge mirror in front of me; as soon as I did, I was like … “fuck” … “shit”; what the hell? What is that? I wanted to put my shirt back; a mixture of negative thoughts was running around in my head; I was embarrassed.

Whatever was in front of the mirror looked terrible, unhealthy, ill, weak, and all of the above combined.

If you look at yourself in the mirror and are too obese, like really obese (or maybe too skinny)? Ask yourself, is this normal? Most people bullshit themselves, and society nowadays helps to keep up with this hypocrisy; they make it seem as though being unhealthy is the new normal and it should be accepted, and anyone who goes against it is a “big bully” and should be punished and canceled.

What the heck? If somebody looks unhealthy, oftentimes, he is unhealthy; obesity, anorexia, or being just too skinny or being too fat is not healthy, it is, in most cases, a disease, and we have to address this problem with integrity to ourselves.

If you look at yourself in the mirror and you are not happy, and you know full well there is something wrong, it is time to make big changes in your life; if you don’t do the hard work, your health will keep declining, you will live in hypocrisy pretending that you are not ill, and you will suffer the consequences anyways which will be the same pain.

“There are two types of pain you will go through in life, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. Discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tonnes.”

― Jim Rohn

Sometimes even if there is something wrong with you, your friends may not say anything; the mirror, however, will do that job, and it will do it brilliantly.

If you know someone with this problem, you have to tell the truth to your friends or loved ones; otherwise, you are abusing your kindness.

It is time to wake up and take seriously any health issues you may be facing my friend; look at yourself in the mirror more often and see if everything is ok with you; if the answer is not, then we have to do the work.

Take care.
