Too many people get scared once they hear about getting older, probably cos of reasons best known to them, but I'll like to say this

Aging is a self fulfilling prophecy that comes to pass at its own time and like a fine wine, you just get better as you age.

Yes, it's true that Getting old above sixty could be sad, knowing you can't eat or do everything but it's great to be at the point where you understand just what matters in life, the point where you already know the outcome/consequence of an act even before it's done.

Never get yourself worried in all the hype about aging. Once you start thinking about it, you get older the more.

Sometimes, it could come with emotional landmines, including fears of losing one's independence or getting a serious illness.
The sad truth is there's nothing you can do; the clock is going to tick away. Getting old is not easy but attitude matters a lot cos for Graceful aging the attitude of accepting changes and finding meaningful activities is required and below are some of the attitudes you can put on.

SMILE.. Be Joyful

You don't stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.

Smile has a mysterious way of easing us stress, it could make ones face brighten up and look very much younger. Honestly, the very best way to age gracefully is just focusing on happiness which in turns yields a smile. Ask yourself this question, "What brings you the most joy and satisfaction to me"? Discover those activities and try as much as possible to incorporate them in your day to day endeavors.

ENGAGE YOUR BRAIN AND MIND.. Read and meditate

Although there's this popular belief that mental decline is an inevitable part of getting older but Studies show that regularly engaging yourself in mentally stimulating activities can slow and probably reverse age-related mental declines.

Engaging your brain here doesn't have to with you going to solve High school exam questions. It could be just turning on the computer and sharing your happy moments with family and friends. "Blogging here on Steemit is a great way to use your mind." A lifetime of good mental habits pays off.

REDUCE STRESS

Stress could overwhelm us thereby making us to age. It could lead to high blood pressure, weight loss. Drinking, Smoking and other unhealthy things could contribute to this
The solution to this is to get rid of all stressful activities, getting enough rest,meditate and adopting healthy living like Drinking more water and taking more fruits. Also take preventive medicine.

ATTITUDE OF ACCEPTING CHANGES

Change is a constant thing they say.

Having this in mind, one has to accept the inevitable changes as a result of aging rather than seeing them as something bad,accept that your life won't remain the same as it were years back.
Also, one needs to anticipate these changes prompted by old age. Anticipating and accepting these changes helps you pass through old age gracefully.

The hidden truth about aging is that One of the true secrets for staying smart and young is to never stop learning. Life is full of opportunities to learn and acquire new skills, foster new talents and grow our abilities.

The fact that we've gotten to a certain age doesn’t mean our brain and reasoning abilities stoped growing. No, it didn't so don't have that mentality. Continue to increase mental sharpness by exercising your brain with new concepts,ideas and skills.

Once we get to a certain age, we may notice a rise in our blood pressure which sometimes is inevitable. This could lead to issues like hypertension, decline in cognitive functioning and stroke.

High blood pressure is one of many health conditions with tendency of increasing as one ages and high sodium diet intake is a trigger. Reduce your sodium intake by using alternative measures like spice and fresh herbs in foods.

Also, more importantly, always eat balanced diet. Don't concentrate on eating one particular class if food daily cos this could be detrimental to your health. Make use of Low cholesterol Oil when cooking.

Getting old has lots of benefits attached to it but I'll be listing just few

•YOU'RE A SURVIVOR

The truth here is that

Old age is a Privilege denied to many but given to few

So getting old is privilege. People look at you and nobody tells them you've passed through a lot of things cos life is not a bed of roses but yet you survived all and here you are. The death and diseases of working in a polluted environment didn't hold you down,You deserve some accolades. And now at old age, you become an embodiment of wisdom as a result of that.

GRANDCHILDREN

Grandchildren is what lots of people desire to see before dying but not all could see that.
Grandparents love their grandchildren more than anything, and this love lightens their heart and brings joy while simultaneously benefiting the grandchildren who receives this love.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN CHARITY WORK and VOLUNTEERING

Growing old gives one broader perspective and understanding thereby making people educated to focus much of their efforts and energy towards bettering society, giving back to the society that made them and creating a better world for future generations.

In addition to inputting their efforts to make the world a better place, they also engage in raising the younger ones, teaching them with mistakes they've made.
