In recent times, it seems like eastern medicine and way of treatment and healing has become more and more popular in the world as people are beginning to show more interest in natural remedies and holistic healing. The popularity of Yoga is a good example of that.


Other good examples are meditation, massages, acupressure, acupuncture and so on. In the recent times, another thing has been added to that list and it is essential oils. Essential oils have been around for a long time in the easter part of the world and slowly, the other parts are getting aware of them as well. Since they are extracted directly from plants, they provide a lot of nourishments to the body in various ways.


Some essential oils help with skin conditions, some with emotional issues and some of them even help in balancing hormones in the body. That is why these are becoming popular day by day in many therapeutic treatments. Today, I will be sharing about some of these oils and how they are helpful.


Lavender Oil

Lavender Oil is a really common one that has been in use for a long time now. They are mostly used in cosmetics as it has a soothing scent and a beautiful purple hue. Their use in the cosmetic products have been limited though and they are useful for many other purposes as well.


For example, they have medicinal properties that make them useful for treating migraines and even stress. Lavender oil can also be used to put you to sleep if you are suffering from insomnia. For this, you can add a few drops of this oil on your pillow.


Apart from this lavender oil can also be used to treat stress as it has a calming effect on the body thanks to its healthy impact on the autonomic nervous system.


Jasmine Oil

Jasmine oil is another essential oil with great medicinal properties. The antibacterial qualities of this oil is well known and it can also serve as an antidepressant. Just like lavender oil, this too has a healthy effect on the nervous system and can increase alertness in the body.

Also, this oil can keep your skin looking fresh and young for a long time if you use it properly as it keeps the skin hydrated and also increases the oxygen saturation in your blood.

As an added bonus, just like lavender oil, you can use jasmine oil on your pillow to get more restful sleep that can help if you are suffering from insomnia.


Rose Oil

Rose oil is very popular in India and is actually used widely. Roses have a naturally soothing scent and one can derive many benefits from their oil. As like other essential oils, rose oil is very good for your skin health as it helps in clearing blemishes and acne breakouts.

Then there are the emotional health benefits of rose oil to as it can help greatly with anxiety and depression. There have been studies conducted on this and the results clearly showed that rose oil can really impact your emotional health for the better.


Vetiver Oil

Vetiver oil is derived from the root of Indian grass and has been in use here for thousands of years. It has soothing and healing qualities. What makes this oil unique is its antioxidant properties that are very essential for the body.

As you may know, antioxidants are useful in fighting the free radicals in the body and helping with the levels of toxins and pollutants in the body. This makes it extremely popular in aromatherapy sessions.

Then you also get the emotional health benefits from this oil that is actually a trait that is shared by most essential oils. Like with other oils, it can help in reducing anxiety, and even ADHD.

Be careful when applying essential oils directly on to the skin. Although it may appear momentarily beneficial, it can burn, irritate or dry your skin. In my experience, applying tea tree oil directly to the skin constantly resulted in dermatitis on my face.

My skin would easily dry out and i had to stop using this oil to treat my acne. Ideally you don't want to apply essential oils directly on the face even if it is a drop - use any carrier oil to be safe.

Yes, they can be strong. That is why there are mostly used in conjunction with other things.

I just love essential oils if only people can get an understanding of how powerful these thongs are. There are many cure locked up in essential oil that must still be discovered. Great article

Effectively these oils bring us many health benefits, you only talk about 4 but there is a great variety of these oils, such as coconut oil that is very good for skin and hair just like cinnamon oil. We also have special eucalyptus, rosemary and mint oils for pain. Excellent post.

Yes there are many more and they all have so many health benefits.

I have seen these being used in spas and I actually love their scent so much. :D

Wow this is really helpful and healthy too , instead of using medications with different side effects these natural healthy things , which creates happiness and peacefulness in the body are a blessing. Especially really good for the skin and the many benefits it comes with . So many good oils that I've never had an idea it could help in those ways I should definitely try it out !

I always prefer natural remedies over medications. They might take time but they are effective without the side effects.
