Turmeric, scientifically called curcuma longa, is a widely used
spices and of the most widely used herbs in the world.
It is a member of the ginger family and a root herb

Turmeric has been one of the most used spices and flavouring
agent in many Asian traditional cuisines especially in India.
Ever wondered what gives the curry it’s golden yellow colour?
Tumeric is a major ingredient in curry as well as in dyeing.
It has a warm pepper-like flavour and a mustard-like aroma.

The Chinese medicine utilizes turmeric to clear infection and
inflammation both inside and outside the body. But recently,
western health practitioner have recognized the health benefits
of turmeric.
Curcumin, the most well known chemical in tumeric have
been found to have a wide benefit to the human health which
includes:
_ Antiinflammatory /antioxidant effects.
_ Reduces lipid and plague level in arteries thereby hindering
heart diseases.
_ Reduces the risk of diabetes.
_ It’s a natural defense against some forms of cancer.
_ Decreases brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
_ Delays aging and reduces arthritis.
HOW TO USE TUMERIC.

  • it can be taken raw, when dirts are thoroughly washed in
    clean water, and it’s peeled with knife.
  • Tumeric can be dried under the sun or in an oven and then
    grounded into powder.
    The powder form can be taken as tea in hot water with a
    mixture of honey and lemon (if desired).
    *Turmeric can be added as spices to your meals, such as rice
    as well as stews.
  • it can be boiled with garlic, and ginger and drink to reduce
    blood pressure.
    DOES IT HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECT?
    Research has proven curcumin to be poorly absorbed ( a low
    percentage of what you consumed is absorbed) and thus
    should be enhanced with other agents such as black pepper
    extra, also called piperine to aid digestion.
    High doses of turmeric can cause:
    _ Issues during pregnancy.
    _ Stomach upset.
    _ Slow blood clotting thus increasing the risk of bleeding.
    _ Make blood sugar too low.
    _ Infertility in men.
