Introduceyourself: Who I was, who I am and who I want to be

in #health7 years ago (edited)

I really feel happy about joining the Steemit community some days ago. After I became adjusted to the new environment I read many interesting posts. Most of them inspired me a lot and made me thinking about what I could give back to the community. So, I decided to start posting about my goal to lose weight and living life healthier. I’m sure you noticed that English is not my mother tongue but I hope you still understand me well. If you don’t always understand what I wrote, please don’t hesitate to ask me in the comment box.

Why I am here?

I have been a member of Facebook for several years now, but at the moment I'm wondering what exactly “social” means in “social network”. It makes no difference whether I “like” the content of my friends or I post anything. In the end, it feels as useless as the Poke War at the beginning of the website. My friends don’t care if I “like” their pictures and for me it doesn’t change anything if I get 45 “likes” instead of 13.

Let me say it in a nutshell. There’s no reason for me to share something on Facebook and there’s nothing that could be that interesting to let me scroll down the newsfeed for hours. For me, the most famous social network feels like an unsocial waste of time. Steemit is the first platform that gives me the impression that my posts can be interesting and that my comments as well as upvotes can be helpful.

In the few days I am already registered on Steemit I saw so much good content which was written with huge effort. I’m really amazed about that.

Who I was

I suffered from overweight since my childhood. What was no problem for me as a child made me feel uncomfortable the older I became. In my youth I had to fight a serious illness which made it even more difficult for me to visit school. Nevertheless, I found a way to finish the school, to defeat my illness and to also lose 30 kg (66.14 lb) at the age of 18. After I lost some weight I started visiting a gym and began to feel comfortable. I then weighed about 80 kg (176.37 lb) and could already achieve some personal success in sports.

Unfortunately, the well-being did not last long. I forgot how important this feeling was to me and how hard I worked for it. I started neglecting myself.

Who I am

I'm 23 years old and live in Austria. At the age of 18 I finally managed to feel comfortable in my skin and it only took me two years until I forgot why I had taken this path. Lacking success at the university and problems I had with myself brought me to regularly drinking alcohol, smoking and eating a lot of junk food.

This is what I am today. I currently weigh 119 kg (262.35 lb) and can’t use the stairs to my apartment without the feeling like thousand needles would be stinging in my heart. At the present I feel extremely uncomfortable but this will change!

Who I want to be

I don’t want to be the one I am now, nor the one I was five years ago. The only thing I want to take from my past are my dreams. I dream of well-being again and to be successful. I want to enjoy my life again!

I would like to invite you to accompany me on my way! I will regularly share my tips on losing weight, diet plans, recipes and progress. I hope that there are a few of you who also want to fight for their health.

From time to time I’ll also create posts that have nothing to do with my weight-loss-challenge, such as posts about gaming, nature or similar things that interest me.

Servus Daniel,
danke dir! ;)

Willkommen - Welcome!

Welcome to steemit! great introduceyourself! My advise is be comfortable with who you are now and that will allow you to become who you want to be in the future!

thank you :D thank you for your advise, I try as much as I can but the things I don't like of myself are much more than my size. In the past year I wasted so much time, ate so much unhealthy things although I didn't like them and smoked a lot. So it was kinda doing bad things to my health although I knew that they were bad for me and my future. These bad decisions are the ones I regret and hate the most. But you're right! Beeing comfortable with the situation and accepting it that it is like it is will help me fullfilling my dreams ;)

Your welcome! I understand that, usually that is how it is; There are many others who feel the same way as you do!

It is ok that you wasted time in the past because now is the present! Yeah we all have made mistake and done thing that doesn't help us in the future! Really the only reason to feel that way about the past, is it permanently affect your life for the rest of your future! Even though some people believe that to be true, I do not believe in those ideas! Now is the moment to change, each and every morning is a new day! Starting doing small regular routines that make you fell good, then once you mastered making a habit out of that, add a new routine. Each day we're all growing!
