Seeing Faces On Everyday Objects?!

in #health9 years ago

A thought to self: "Oh my, this thing seems like it is looking at me"... Does this ever occur to your mind? Do you ever talk about it?

Doesn't this microwave look like it is having a great time of its life by its wide smile?

Pareidolia (/pærᵻˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-doh-lee-ə) is a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (an image or a sound) wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none exists (Wikipedia)

It can also refer Apophenia /æpoʊˈfiːniə/ is the human tendency to perceive meaningful patterns within random data

What do you see below??

If all you see is popcorn, then popcorn you see. One with a "wild" imagination sees a "Popcorn Man" waiting to "scare" you along with the horror movie that you are probably watching.

What Studies Suggest?

Studies suggest that Pareidolia and Apophenia link to symptoms/bits of Schizophrenia, which is defined as a mental disorder characterized by abnormal behaviour and failure to understand what is real. (Wikipedia)

My Opinion?

I think that some images (like a design on a tile) would somehow create something within our minds and I think that people who see more than what meets the eye are more likely to be creative. They are more likely to be individuals that can think out the box.

I mean, in my younger years, we would be inspired by nursery school teachers to look at the sky and point out what we see, hence, I believe that seeing faces/more images in an inanimate object would possibly mean that your creativity levels inside the brain are active.

That cloud looks like a man's face to me.
