This is a great article that explains about schizophrenia pretty well. I bet many years before this, the stigma regarding mental illness especially schizophrenia is horrible. I bet some procedures like drilling the patient's skull to extract the demon out as you've mentioned may actually happened in the past. Let's debilitate the stigma as there are many helpful medications nowadays that can control the symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions.
