My Zombie days are gone, I hope, I think.
For the last few days I have been suffering from a numb finger. The tip of my big finger on my right hand has lost its feeling. It doesn't hurt, its just uncomfortable and I keep flicking it around in the hope that it will all come back to life. Of course this is not working.
I mentioned this to a work colleague today. Now this guy is some kind of reserve doctor or something, he always seems to know whats wrong!
He knows I have a long term back problem which is currently worse during my sleeping hours, and that I was prescribed some tablets over a week ago by one of these 'practice doctors' at my local GP.
'Amitriptyline'.. one a night before sleep and it will kill your nerve endings, perfect!
As soon as I mentioned the finger, he mentioned the tablets, of course!
No, I'm not giving you the finger.. really.
So I looked up these 'Amitriptyline' and what do I find?

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. Amitriptyline affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression. Amitriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression.

Does my doctor think I'm a depressed mentally ill patient? Jeez.. I have a back problem but this is going a little far.
What makes it worse is that I'm also a walking zombie, another side effect.
Well I'm off 'Amitriptyline' from right now! I want to rejoin the ranks of the living again thank you very much.
Tricyclic antidepressants are not prescribed ONLY for depression, you have nothing to worry about (but to be sure, check with your doctor again lol). They are sometimes the best medicine for nerve problems and since your finger was numb, it was probably a nerve thing. You do not have to use it for a long period of time like depressed people do, and if you are experiencing side effects you should definitely tell your doctor so he/she can give you something else that will work better on you. Talk to the doctor and be persistent in getting all the information you need to and have a right to receive. Good luck!

I guess they are not but still wonder why she gave me these. I have since stopped using them and am no longer the zombie that I was, however the finger has still not recovered and is still numb. I'm wondering if it is a coincidence now. Thanks for stopping by :)
My prescription is - DO NOT wash your hands after typing 1,000,000 words and DO NOT take shower/bath when tired. :-D
I only soak my hand/feet in warm water with sea salt for 15-30 minutes or more when I suffer from a numb fingers/hand/feet and it works for me. 👍

Thanks for the tips! I am now following @ocd and will use that tag. Witnesses I believe call the shots on Steemit, but how does voting for them expose your content, thats' the question? Why should I vote one over another?
You need to visit the chiropractor to straighten the spine. Then all nerve endings will not be trapped. And numbness disappears. and the back will not hurt. Health!

Believe me I have tried. Had 2 separate experts do many things to my back. Cupping, massage, acupuncture, its all been tried and no results. Spent many hundreds of pounds looking to fix it. Today I had a MRI scan, I hope it will show something.
