Benefits Of Taking Fruit On An Empty Stomach

in #health7 years ago

Fruits have always been and still are one of the most important parts of a diet. Everyone knows that eating fruits is not only good for your skin but they have a few hundred more benefits to it too like reducing heart disease, relieving constipation, maintaining good skin and hair and they help detoxify your body.

But the question is, should you take them on an empty stomach or with food? Does the timing really matter? There have been a lot of debates about this because certain scientists along with nutritionists believe that consuming fruit on an empty stomach or with a meal can modify the technique your body uses to digest it. Some nutritionists are strongly in the favour that fruits play a key role in detoxifying your system. They claim that it provides you with an excessive deal of energy for weight loss and numerous other day to day activities. Dr. Herbert Shelton, a researcher on this topic states, "If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight". Eating fruit on an empty stomach permits the digestive system to break down the sugars found in fruit rapidly. This authorizes us to reap the full nutritive benefits like fiber, vitamin c, antioxidants and reduction of inflammation in the body.

However, others claim that it does not matter when you eat them. Whether it's on an empty stomach or after a meal. Jill Weisenberger, MS, RD, CDE, writer of Diabetes Weight Loss—Week by Week, voiced her concerns to HuffPost Healthy Living by email. She states that "the claim that the body has trouble digesting the carbohydrates in fruit in combination with other foods is not supported by the science." The body produces digestive enzymes for protein, fat, and carbohydrates and releases them from the pancreas together, "If we could not digest mixed meals, we would not even be able to digest most foods since most foods are a combination of nutrients. Even vegetables like green beans and broccoli are a mix of carbohydrate and protein." In the end what matters is taking in as much fruits as possible but not to worry when.

Ever heard the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away?

Great post! I think it makes sense to eat the fruit on an empty stomach to make it easier for the body to draw out the nutrients. The pictures you used look AMAZING. They make me want to go get some fruit right now! LOL! I don't understand people when they say that they don't like fruit (and vegetables). We are supposed to eat nature for health, healing and well-being.
