Celebrate Aging and respect the elders
Aging has a bad image in our western culture.
While many cultures celebrate the aging process and respect their elders, in Western cultures — where the elderly are commonly removed from the community and relegated to hospitals and nursing homes — aging can become a shameful experience.
What would happen if we all embrace the aging process? How beautiful would it be to live in a society where old age is honored and celebrated? A culture where elders are respect for the wisdom and life experiences again, where death is seen as an opportunity to celebrate life.
Sophie Rosentreter, dementia activist from Germany and founder of Ilses weite Welt , says: "It’s necessary to draw a different image in our society about age and death! To engage with the beauty and wisdom of the old age.“ Her goal is to inspire a rethinking in our society. Her wish is that illness, care and death are faced with more lightness.
I am proud that I can support Sophie Rosentreter with my pictures. Here with Anna Wilken, Model & Influencer and volunteer in retirement homes. She uses her fame to bring the topic of aging to young people.
