Foot care and You

in #health6 years ago

Each part of our body is precious. Feet are often the most neglected part of the body. Just as one takes care of the face, care should be given to the feet or perhaps even more so.

I am careful to observe because I am a diabetic and what scares me most is the complications that might affect such body parts. (diabetes in my case is purely based on genes and not a lifestyle because I am too lean and not obese.)

How to take care of feet

  • wash your feet daily and certainly before going to bed
  • make sure you drink enough water - not drinking enough of water can lead to dry skin diseases as well
  • apply oils such as coconut oil or olive oil or creams before going to bed
  • do not wear tight shoes or sandals
  • high heeled shoes can severely affect your back
  • try to change your socks daily
  • cut your toenails
  • stretch your legs and rest for a while in the evening, especially if you strain your legs during work hours
  • massaging the legs will be very relaxing especially if you happen to have spider veins or vericose vein problems
  • try to avoid intake of painkillers for vericose veins on a daily basis
  • hot water bags can also help relieve pain
  • restless legs is very irritating - apply some pain relieving cream instead of pill intake
  • vitamin deficiency should be treated after consulting a doctor, this could solve your pain problem
  • swelling of legs? drink water and stretch legs

Twitching or numbing of legs?

Dehydration could be one big reason. Try drinking water and see whether it is lessened. Otherwise, consult a doctor immediately. Wear socks if it is too cold during the night. Do not expose your legs.

Home- based Pedicure

Take a basin of warm water. Put some rock salt into it and stir it. Insert your feet into it. Remove after a few minutes and wash with mild soap. Use an old toothbrush to clean your nails. Your feet will feel very fresh. It is easy and zero cost.

"Feet are often the most neglected part of the body" that's very true. people not giving importance to their leg, fingers, toes and toenails. people thinking that they only care about the face. Thanks for the valuable and useful tips.
