Where does 'strength' really come from?steemCreated with Sketch.

I pose this question because physical strength does not come from the muscles within our body.

A few weeks ago @jockey somewhat jokingly challenged me to an arm wrestle. An offer I declined at first but he insisted, curious to know my strength.

He told me he had beaten everyone he had wrestled with. And it was this comment which made me say yes.

I enjoy rising to the challenge of things that people perceive as not possible.

I did a similar thing back in rehab 5 years ago when they told me I couldn't quit smoking at the same time as giving up my drugs of choice. Consequently I found it easier to quit the cigarettes along with the rest of the junk because someone told me it had never been done before by anyone in the history of the clinic.

Well... now it has been done!

The Arm Wrestle

To look at us you would not say we were an even match for an arm wrestle. I am a very slim vegan and often go for days without eating. @jockey has a much larger frame and no doubt, if we were to look at muscle density, he would have plenty more than myself.

The first five minutes of our wrestle gave us both a good idea of where we stood.

I KNEW he would not beat me and I could feel his growing surprise that he was not beating me as easily as he expected...

After ten minutes we were still firmly locked at our starting position, only now we were both turning bright red and making funny noises, causing people in the restaurant to watch us.

@jockey suggested at that point we call it a draw, which I was perfectly happy to accept.

So why could he not beat me with his bigger muscles?

This is a question I cannot answer for sure but I believe the following factors are connected to the source of my strength:

  • I am a VEGAN.

  • I fast regularly.

  • I never wear shoes.

  • I spin a fire-staff for fun every day.

  • As someone who used to enjoy running, I understand that 99% of the battle is within the mind.

  • I am a sun-gazer.

Sungazing

I have mentioned it a few times here and will continue to do so because I believe this may well be the main source of my strength now.

Every morning I look directly at the sun in a meditative state and connect with something I cannot describe with words. Source Energy you could say.

I have been doing this for some time now. Over 4 years.

Please research the subject! You will be surprised what you find.

Since this man started sungazing he lost all his weight, but became ten times stronger.

You should be.

I am happy for your victory over @jockey although draw but certianly an Expectation Victory. I somewhat do believe with what you said, Strength isn't just Physical Power or Bulky Muscles, but a Strong Mind is absolutely necessary. You rightly said about Mental Power(i believe it should be 90% around coz physical power is also necessary) . Although i agree with you on some parts but being vegan i don't, i think @jockey is also a vegan coz i have been following him sometime and his posts always dictate the Vegan Food merits in different diseases esp diabetics. Moreover you need Physical Strength so need much Proteins (but that is just me).
Also as @lakshmi said Surya Aasan (Sungazing) is to be practiced only after proper know how of it else you may be ending up damaging your eyes only.

Physical Strength + Mental Strength = Total Strength

Yes, you are right. Sungazing shouldn't be practiced without first researching it. My advice is to start with just 10 seconds at the first light of day. And build up by 10 seconds each day.

Yes, I live with @jockey and I know what he eats! Meat is something he enjoys very much which is fair enough. And he love cooking his vegetables too... which is also fair enough.

However, a raw vegan juicing diet will fix pretty much any illness you have and increase the strength of your body :)

Now I look like this:

And I don't work out. DIET is EVERYTHING.

And a regular connection to SOURCE ENERGY :)

Your transformation is amazing...👏👏👏

congrats on sobriety - i share a similar story in some ways. Thanks for mentioning the rehab. i should share my sobriety story sometime, i had been thinking it is shameful and personal, but of course i should consider the influence it could have on others.

Great to meet you here my friend. I do believe after one year on this platform you are the first person I have spoken to who also knows Bill W :)

You MUST share your story and please personal message me when you do, so that I don't miss it. I will resteem to you my followers. Honesty goes a long way here.

Whilst I may not be in sobriety any more, I have a deep respect for the 12 step program and successfully co-exist with many old friends who have reminded with the fellowship.

I have managed to find some kind of balance. My two years of sobriety taught me so much about myself. And opened a spiritual door of sorts.

.... and life has not been the same since!

In so many wonderful and unexpected ways.

But I must always be conscious of my addictive side. Even now as I sit here am aware that Steemit is 100% an addiction and moderation needs to be achieved.

Please keep in touch :)

glad you found balance and are not harming yourself and others with addiction - spirituality is a lifestyle that makes abundance come our way.

This is inspiration - And also great timing. I'm about to embark on a huge health shift & detox, and coming across people like you on Steemit is beautiful. Thank you!

Excellent. Please share these posts with me on steemit.chat. I will follow and support your journey.

It will change EVERYTHING for you :)

Trust me. I used to live with a sausage maker! And boy did I look different back then ;)

Check the pics I put in a comment above this one.

Even my thoughts were different back then.

Food is our FUEL! Yet today PLEASURE is the primary goal in every meal.

What is important is not how you feel when you eat it but how you feel AFTER you eat/drink it :)

Thank you ^_^ I am very excited!

@samstonehill great post. I'm definitely convinced that most of the strength we tap into lies beyond our muscle power. Attitude, beliefs and conviction are power resources to garner up strength. These come from the mind and/or our psychological makeup. Yet there is another even greater source of inner strength (and wisdom) that lies beyond the mind. It's in our energetic heart. Thanks again.....started following you :)

Beautiful words my friend. Our energetic heart :) Yes indeed.

I was told recently by someone who appeared to know what they were talking about that due to my birth date & time, I have an excessive amount of energy. Which I certainly do!

But what I have noticed is that as I grow older, into my 40s I am getting stronger, not weaker like so many others I see around me.

There is no judgement. Only observation.

Thanks for the follow :)

Have followed you back.

@samstonehill I'm so happy for you and your great victories and sungazing in amazing but please remember to warn people not to do that until they are ready or they could damage their eyes (nurse in me speaking) Thanks. I love your posts!!!

Surya Aasan...Needs a good practice to perform it effectively.

Yes... good point. I keep meaning to do a longer post on Sungazing so that people understand this clearly.

Thank you for reminding me :)

You are welcome!

interesante post amigo .

May be true, strength comes from the veins @samstonehill

thanks for the comment :)

The strength comes from within especially if you are doing what you love and seeing the success.

That's it! When we are doing what we love, there is a connection to SOURCE and that is something very powerful :)

Welcome, I agree.
