Why Do Our Knees Sound? Know The reasons And When You Should Worry

in #health6 years ago

Surely more than once it has happened to you that your knees produce an unpleasant sound at the time of flexing them or, simply, when they are not in movement. And it is that when that strange noise, which resembles a kind of crack or cracks occurs. We usually get alarmed thinking that something is not right in our bones or joints. However, the reason for this sound also called "crepitus", which can occur for various reasons. Don’t worry I am going to explain some of these:

According to specialists, one of the most common reasons for the crunching of the knees is the accumulation of gas in the synovial fluid, which causes small bubbles to form. Synovial fluid is a fluid that is found in joints, and whose lubricating effect reduces friction between them.

If this happens when the knees are flexed, the bubbles that are formed by the synovial fluid can break or explode, which produces that characteristic along with an unpleasant sound. This is completely normal and painless and happens to everyone from time to time.

However, if the sound of crepitus is accompanied by pain, you should pay attention and go to the traumatologist for a checkup, as it may be a sign of a more serious joint problem, such as osteoarthritis. And for your knowledge, I must tell you that the knee is the largest joint and the heaviest weight of the whole body, therefore, it also suffers the most.

Another reason for the painful "crepitus" of the knees can also be caused by other types of injuries such as:

Meniscus injuries, which are common in people who run or play sports.

Patellar Chondromalacia, which is the degeneration of the articular surface of the cartilage that forms the posterior capsule of the knee.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PTSD) or runner's knee, which is caused by an overload on the patella and can lead to chondromalacia patellar.

The topic is good, hope that it does not happen in 20s.. Joke apart but this is very useful content for those who suffer from this issue... @samkhan

no, it doesn't happen 20s. But still, sometimes people who have more sex tend to have this problem.

Continuous really awesome and great topic love it I will wait for your next post

These are fairly common in people who play sports, jog, or run. A meniscus tear can cause crepitus as the joint moves. Chondromalacia patella is a dull ache behind the kneecap, usually caused by overuse or injury.

Yes bro it is. You pointed out the right things.

It’s hilarious when I tech my chair classes to seniors and I make more pops then them. Fortunately it is not accompanied by pain. But I did crack my fingers so much that it starts hurting a bit now.

hahahah that happens.. I know that you are an artist too. And I have idea of that feeling when it feels like to pop fingers and bones. :) I myself can't resist

Phew... I don't have to worry anymore about this problem of mine, I'm a guy who plays football and goes to the gym on a regular basis so this is the problem I always faced and used to stress about it. As the sound of my crepitus is not accompanied by pain I have nothing to worry about. Thanks for this informative post was very helpful 🙌
