Children Inhale 30% More Air Pollutants Than Adults

in #health6 years ago

A British study showed that children inhaled air pollutants on their way to school more than 30% more than the parents sending them to school because children are shorter and closer to the car exhaust pipe.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s “Global Action Plan” conducts research in four British cities in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, and London. It allows some parents and children under the age of 11 to wear air pollution monitoring equipment to measure the roads along the roads with fewer cars and walk along the roads. Now many air pollutants are exposed to each of the four school transportation through walking, private car, and bus. The results showed that children on the way to school are 30% more air pollutants than parents inhale; walking along school roads leads to 2.5X times more air pollutants than walking along roads with the fewer encounter of traffic jams and cars. Internal air pollutants are 50% more on the sidewalk.

Chris Rudge, the head of the Global Plan of Action, said that one simple way to reduce children's inhalation of air pollutants is to choose roads with small traffic flow.

The British newspaper "The Independent" quoted Jonathan Craig, a professor at the Queen Mary University of London, saying: "The children's lungs are particularly vulnerable because they are still growing... My research shows that inhaling the air pollutants generated by a lot of traffic is against them. The lungs have serious effects."

The British "Daily Telegraph" reported that a study conducted by the UK office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) showed that one out of three children in the United Kingdom lives in an area where the air quality does not meet health standards. The Office called on the British government to make the governance of heavily polluted areas a top priority and provide financial support.

I think Polution is World biggest issue. Never action on polution there death of the world
Am i right?

Yes, you are completely right buddy.

I think the government will take notice of this menacing problem and take action soon.
Do you think that people are enough aware about this problem

I don't think people are much aware of this problems, Awareness from government as well as people should also has to be educated.

as much as I know, in today's busy world neither government nor civilians have the time to look into such matters. All they care about is money, relationship, and the popularity. But friends, without a healthy body, you can't consider yourself as a successful person because that's what makes the real meaning of success. Let me give you one more example. A lot of people are treating themselves with allopathic treatments which are short-term, sometimes effective but has some side effects too. If you research, you will find out that taking such medicines will only harm the body. However, the Ayurvedic treatment is harder to apply, shows effective results but with delay, and give us a proper and permanent solution to the root of our problem. Now see nobody is wanna try Ayurvedic because they don't want to give time to make medicines. Yes, in Ayurvedic, you can make your own medicines. But in allopathic, they just need a tablet or capsules that it. See how simple this is?

We all have to stay healthy, can you suggest any idea to reduce pollution

well, the idea starts from the inner self. First of all, we have to declutter our mind instead of decluttering the world out there. However, we can move towards organic things instead of the inorganic ones because I believe that if you compromise with nature, nature will do the same. As the 3rd law of motion suggests. To every action, there's equal and opposite reaction.

Thanks @shrikant21 I am on it.

children have a higher resting metabolic rate and rate of oxygen
consumption per unit body weight than adults because they have a larger surface area per
unit body weight and because they are growing rapidly. Therefore, their exposure to any air
pollutant may be greater.
In addition to an increased need for oxygen relative to their size, children have narrower
airways than do adults. Thus, irritation caused by air pollution that would produce only a
slight response in an adult can result in potentially significant obstruction in the airways of a child

Sad News this is

Very sad to here this. If this is the condition now what will the future.

We must've grow at least one tree every year to reduce such a condition

I agree with your words.

@smakhan what measures do you suggest that people and government should take

I have already replied to @yashaswikashyap1 and @merchkings about this.
