Fluoride Now Linked To Diabetes

in #health8 years ago

Fluoride has gotten a bad rap for years. Originally added to public drinking water in the 1940s to reduce cavities, people have been highly suspicious of this form of mass medication from the very beginning – and for good reason.

Whether or not added fluoride in drinking water is safe or not is a source of controversy. Some scientists claim it is perfectly safe. In fact, both the Centers for Disease Control and the American Dental Association claim it’s safe. Other medical researchers disagree.

Many medical scientists believe fluoride contributes to a host of long-term medical problems. A new study that was just published in the Journal of Water and Health claims that fluoride is a leading contributor of the chronic illness, Type 2 Diabetes.

Something fishy is definitely going on in the United States with regards to diabetes. The number of people with the disease has nearly quadrupled in the past 30 years and it seems to only be getting worse.

One physician, neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, has been very vocal for years regarding his belief that fluoride causes a variety of illnesses. He believes there may even be a connection between fluoride and Alzheimer’s. Other potential illnesses that Blaylock believes may be attributed (or exacerbated) by fluoride include thyroid suppression, cancer, and impotence.

In the recently published study, researchers analyzed publicly available data on fluoride water levels and occurrences of diabetes in 22 states using statistical modeling. The models do seem to show a direct correlation between fluoride use and an increase in diabetes. One researcher noted that a one milligram increase in the average fluoride level in drinking water corresponded with a 0.17 increase in diabetes.

It’s important to note that not all areas use the same form of fluoride in their water supplies. This was accounted for in the study. The types of fluoride that seems to increase diabetes include sodium fluoride and sodium fluorosilicate. Another type of fluoride, fluorosilicic acid, actually correlates with a reduction in diabetes.

More research is clearly needed.

Thank you for post this. I have type II diabetes. While I generally do not drink fluoridated water, I now have another reason to avoid fluoridated water.

Steem on,
