Simplified diabetes Sugar is never the problem. Part 1
The justification for eating (excluding gluttony) is because we are famished. The reason we are famished is because the cells of our body need energy (in the form of ATP), so they warn our brain to start thinking about food. Food has many nutrients, but carbohydrates are the main source of energy. These carbohydrates are broken down into glucose which is then absorbed and used by the cells of our body. I suppose you know why they give you glucose when you complain about fatigue, they are actually quick sources of energy.
Now, back to diabetes. Diabetes is a medical condition that results from an imbalance in the use of this sugar in the body. So sugar is never the problem, it's your body's inability to use it properly. The"Head Master" that regulates the use of sugar in your body is insulin. If this becomes defective, then the problem arises. The Head Master (insulin) is controlled by the "proprietor" (beta cells of the pancreas). When insulin is not produced at all, it is called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The nick is diabetes mellitus type 1.
Atimes, no matter what the head master says, the students never listen. In fact, they neglect the head master. This is medically known as insulin resistance.
The second type of diabetes is known as type 2 diabetes mellitus or non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. The reason is that, although there is insulin, the cells do not respond, so they do not recognize the signal to take the sugar and use it as an energy source. That's why diabetic patients complain of frequent hunger. It is best described as "starvation in the midst of plenty". There is sugar but the cells can not see it and recognize it,hence they can not use it effectively. I'll have to stop here for now.
