White blood cell or WBC are manufactured in bone marrow. It also called leukocytes, are an important part of the immune system. Their main work is to help these cells help fight infections by attacking bacteria, viruses, and germs that invade the body. White blood cells originate in the bone marrow but circulate throughout the bloodstream.

White blood cells can:

  • ingest pathogens and destroy them.
  • produce antibodies to destroy pathogens.
  • produce antitoxins that neutralise the toxins released by pathogens.
