Do Pillows Really Bring Comfort While Sleeping?

in #health5 years ago (edited)

Did you know that pillows aren't really all they seem, and they are basically overrated? In the world today, most people find it comfortable to make use of pillows while sleeping but for some others, the use of pillows while sleeping isn't necessary or important.

A proper good night rest depends on the kind of position one takes while sleeping and also the kind of pillow used. Pillows are quite necessary when sleeping because they bring some comfort and easiness when sleeping. To have an effective and sound body system, you need to pay close attention to your pattern of sleeping because if you don't, you might just go to sleep one night and wake up the next morning feeling like they just dropped a building on you.

Although sleeping with a pillow might seem comfortable but you should ask the reasonable question, Is it healthy? There are different kinds of pillows and each has its effect on our sleep and our body in the long run. I've seen a thousand and one articles, tweets and blog posts that suggest the use of pillows are good and nice however should you believe the hype?

Yes! Pillows might be good but they are dangerous as well, they are harmful and can be quite deadly, disguising their self with the looks of comfort and sound sleep. I once read in a book that pillows are the reasons why people develop neck and back pains though you might not know it yet, they contribute to major body and bone pains including the joints.

The important thing to note about pillows are the kinds you need to make use of while sleeping and I must tell you,''Its not the fear what you know that will kill you, it's the fear of what you know and don't control that has the tendency of bringing harm your way." Just as there are different kinds of pillows, there are also diverse kinds of sleepers and patterns.

That said, A soft pillow can increase comfortability while sleeping and reduce tension in the muscle. For back sleepers, you require a thinner and soft pillow while you sleep but if you can't find these anywhere then I'd advise you do not use one at all. If you are the kind that enjoys sleeping on the side, well then get yourself a pillow that isn't too thick and note that if the pillow is too thick then you are doing a lot of harm to your body without even knowing it.

Even with all the benefits that sleeping with pillows brings, it's not enough to quantify the negativity involved in it and whether you like it or not to prevent something is far better than to treat that it afterward. Sleeping with pillows can cause acne because once you rest your face on the pillow there might be traces of bacteria and dirt on the pillow surface, which can lead to acne. Pillows of any kind can also cause wrinkles on the neck and face when placed too much on the pillow surface.

If by the early hours of the morning, you wake up with a disturbing pain in the back and neck, well I hate to break it to you, your pillow might be the reason. A pillow too thick will increase muscle tension which leads to stiffness, and headaches. Originally, the sleeping posture of everyone is supposed to accurately straight and once you add a thick pillow you upset the straight line balance of your backbone and neck and by the time you wake the next day, you might even move your neck properly for the 3-4 minutes.

Finally, the use of pillows are indeed true in some ways but the price for this luxury is quite excessive. Better be safe than sorry, if you must use pillows make sure its the right one, and make sure use it carefully but if you can't find the perfect pillow for your sleeping pattern then, stay clear from pillows, it's even safer to not even use pillows at all.

When you do these things, then maybe that neck, back, and head pain might just disappear for good and you might just avoid any health hazard.

Now where do I look for a good mattress as described?

You can find good mattresses everywhere. It's all about your preferences. You can rely on the possibilities and your budget, or you can save some money to give up something for the sake of a comfortable sleep. I also resisted for a long time but decided to sleep on a comfortable mattress, not on half of my couch, which is falling apart after World War I, where my grandmother slept under bullets. I am happy that I was able to limit myself somewhere and buy a great mattress. I also found some great pillows at https://bedselection.co.uk/best-pillows-for-side-sleepers/ for people who sleep on one side all the time. I need one just like that, so I recommend it. I'll have to give it a try, so it doesn't permanently curve my spine.
