ZOBO DRINK CONSUMPTION
Zobo drink is a Nigerian beverage made from Roselle plant flowers. Also known as hibiscus drink.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ZOBO DRINK
1.Drinking zobo is very effective in the management of hypertension due to its hypertensive propeeties.
2.Drinking a cup of zobo after every meal help to reduce the absorption of dietary carbohydrates.
3.It is rich in vitamin-c and also fight infections.
4.It hydrates the body system.
5.It reduces sugar content in the body because it contains an enzyme inhibitor which blocks the production of amylase(amylase is an enzyme that breaks down complex sugar and starches).
6.Strengthen blood vessels,reduces stress.
7.It improve sex drive.
- Consumption of zobo during pregnancy is not advisable in women in their first trimester because it induces menstration and may lead to a miscarriage.
- Its safety during breast feeding is unknown and therefore,It is best to avoid zobo drink when breastfeeding.
BEFORE MAKING ZOBO
1.Rinse out the dust from the zobo leaves with cold water.
- Wash and peel the skin if ginger and blend.
3.Wash the peel and cut pineapple into thin slices.
HOW TO MAKE ZOBO
- Pour zobo leaves inside a pot after being washed and pour enough water to cover it totally.
2.Cook and allow it to boil for atleast 30 minutes.
3.Add more water and ginger or garlic, keep boiling for at least 30 minutes, thus will the zobo leaves be soft completely. - Set aside to cool down completely.
5.Blend the pineapple and seive out the zobo leaves then pour the juice.
6.Add any artificial flavors of your choice and stir thoroughly.
7.Pour into bottles and serve it cool or serve with ice and sliced fruits enjoy it alone or with a snack
