There are 4 Different Types of Headaches:

-Vascular Headaches

-Muscle Contraction (AKA Tension Headaches)

-Traction Headaches

-Inflammatory Headaches

Reasons for these Headaches and How To Prevent/Relieve Them:

Deficiency of Magnesium: Magnesium is needed for all of your muscles to contract and relax. A lack of magnesium usually leads to a Muscle Contraction (Tension Headache). Studies have shown that approximately 90% of the population is deficient in magnesium. Make sure to include foods with magnesium in your diet, take magnesium supplements, or try applying liquid magnesium topically after your shower. Check out my post on DIY Liquid Magnesium

Vitamin D levels: Low Vitamin D levels could lead to headaches. This is especially true during winter months when we are getting less natural sunlight. Try to get at least 20 minutes of sunlight on your skin daily. If that is not possible, try supplementing with Vitamin D3.

B-Vitamins: Similar to Magnesium and Vitamin D...too low of levels can lead to headaches. Again, make sure you are eating foods with B-Vitamins or try supplementing with a B-Complex Vitamin.

Dehydration and Improper Electrolyte Balance: Diets that are very high in sodium (salt) and low in potassium will cause an electrolyte imbalance. On the other hand, diets too low in salt and high in potassium can also cause an imbalance and result in headaches. If your diet consists of a lot of packaged foods and restaurant food, chances are you are consuming a diet high in sodium. If you have a headache, try eating foods with potassium such as a banana to balance out the high salt. If you do not consume a lot of sodium in your diet, try adding a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt to your water and drinking it the next time you get a headache.

Caffeine: Compounds in caffeine will cause vasoconstriction of your blood vessels. Many times people experience vasodilation, the opposite of vasoconstriction, due to lack of sleeping or inflammation. Caffeine can help constrict these blood vessels to loosen up the pressure. However, try to moderate your caffeine intake, in order to prevent dependence. Headaches can also be caused when people who are dependent on caffeine, do not get their caffeine fix. This can lead to withdrawal headaches. If this is the case, try weaning off caffeine slowly, rather than going "cold turkey." Remember, everything in moderation.

Staring at a Computer Screen Too Long: Be sure to include breaks every 15 minutes when working in front of a computer. Simply taking a break from staring at the screen, going for a walk, stretching, or even doing a quick yoga pose such as Downward Dog may help relieve your headache.

Well there you have it. If you follow these tips, hopefully, they will help if you headaches are a problem for you. Let me know what you think in the comment section and upvotes are always welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

Take care and stay safe out there
