Whereas oninons is used to cook all over the world,many people see onions as just another ingredient in the food and are not aware of the numerous health benefits of onions. Either consuming them cooked or raw, onions has a lot to offer than just a mere ingredient in a food.

1) It Is Loaded With Antioxidants

Oninons are excellent source of antioxidants to the body since they contain about 26 varieties of antioxidants which prevents oxidation in the body system. Oxidation is one of the popular reasons for cell damage in the body further leading to illnesses like diabetes and cancer.

2) It Helps Control Blood Sugar level

Due to certain beneficial compounds found in Onions like Sulfur and quercertin, consumption of about 100 grams of onions can serve as an antidiabetic hence interacting with the liver, pancreas, intestine to regulate the overall body blood sugar level.

3) It Helps Boost Bone Density

Regular consumption of onions is often recommended for older and aging individuals because of its ability to boost their bone density and hence prevent osteoporosis. This is because onions is widely beleieved to boost antioxitant levels and reduce oxidative stress.

4) It helps to Boost Digestive Health

Studies have shown that onions are capable of boosting and improving the digestive health which is because they contain a high level of prebiotics and fiber which are broken down by gut bacterias to fuether create other acids like butyrate abd acetate.

Onions also offers alot of nutrients which i have not mentioned previously such as vitmins like Vitmin C and B plus other minerals. Onions also contains a good amount of potassium which is vital for kidney function and nerve transmission. for those lacking any of these nutrients, you are adviced to consume more onions.
