Every 5 Seconds, Someone In The World Develops Diabetes

That is a startling statistic and here are a few others:

In 1985, there were only 30 million diabetics. Fast forward to today, and the number of diabetics in the world stands at 346 million. The scary thing? 50 percent of those suffering from diabetes don't even know they have it.

Diabetes and diabetes related complications kill one person every 8 seconds.

Diabetes ulcers are a leading cause of amputations, with a million amputations attributed to diabetes in a year. This means that every 30 seconds, there is a diabetes patient who loses his or her leg. This disproportionately affects poorer countries.

According to the WHO, the number of diabetes patients is expected to double by the year 2030. Let's try our best to halve the number instead of doubling it.
