Stunning Blow to Anti-Vaxxer Parents

in #health8 years ago

The science behind the anti-vaxxer movement has been thoroughly debunked.  This year, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will be removing personal and religious exemptions for immunizing children. That means more than 1/2 million kids returning to LAUSD schools will now need to provide proof of immunization.

Personally I don't care if ADULTS refuse immunization. Some do so for ethical reasons. For example, the flu vaccine is incubated in eggs, which deter some vegans. But if a minority group's unfounded and unreasonable beliefs lead to the spread of deadly illnesses that could affect ~700,000 kids a year, then NOPE.

Sort:

I agree with vaccination but I also agree that it could be a cause of autism, I do not trust the manufacturers after reading what goes into them.

No, it does not cause autism. Literally all studies except the one flawed, paid-for, study prove that vaccines do not cause autism. Not to mention, the effects of the disease the MMR vaccine prevents are far worse than autism.

this is about individual rights, not 30 year old propaganda

No, it's about deadly diseases and the propaganda you chose to believe.

@lifeworship: Yes, I looked at what you listed. That's the propaganda I'm talking about.

what propaganda is that? The Constitution or the Bill of Rights or maybe the Nuremburg code, that prohibits medical procedures without consent. did you even bother to look at any of the papers by the scientists i listed below?

Lol at the idea of someone telling me what to do with my body... I guess I understand where those anti abortion women are coming from. I most definitely won't be raising a child in Los Angeles.

They aren't telling you what to do with your body. They're telling you what to do with someone who is to young to rationally decide for themselves who might die from your decision.

they are telling you that they own your children and that you have no rights.

Do you have the right to kill your children?

does the government have the right to kill anyone's children?

@lifeworship: That has nothing to do with this. Do YOU
have the right to kill your children? Yes or no.

this is what is classically known as a false choice, a well known logical fallacy. read more, attack people with propaganda, less.

this is one of many subjects that has nothing to do with some fictitious "scientific consensus" and has everything to do with the individual right of every parent to do what they think is right for their own children. debunking has nothing to do with depriving the individual of their rights. i have never come across a science with which everyone agreed on every aspect. this is a question of the rights of the individual and whether the state can own someone's children.

It's a question of whether it's ok to create a danger for other children. Babies under 12 months old are too young to receive the vaccine, so your "individual freedom" puts them at risk of death, deafness, and brain damage. (And that's just from measles.) (Also, that's just one group that can't receive the vaccine.)

all i can say to someone so monumentally uninformed, without vitriol, is i would encourage you to educate yourself further.

Citation needed. Measles is highly infectious, can cause death, deafness and brain damage and the vaccine can not be administered to babies under 12 months old.

Which part of that do you think is wrong?

EDIT: And again, that's just measles. The vaccine also covers Mumps and Rubella.

i would start here:

then i would proceed to consume any media produced by Stephanie Seneff, Thierry Vrain, Don Huber, Anthony Samsell, Nancy Swanson, Jonathan Wright, and anyone they have collaborated with in the last ten years. i wish you well. it is an arduous road, to knowledge. i used to believe just as you do now. it nearly broke me learning how wrong i was and gives me pause to think how much i still do not know.
