Why talking about mental health should not be a taboo

in #health5 months ago

As someone who has struggled with anxiety disorder for a number of years, I can attest to the fact that I am well aware of how exhausting it can be to try to conceal it from other people.

Having said that, ever since I began using the Meditation App, I have experienced a shift in both my reaction to anxiety condition and my viewpoint on my mental health.

Every time I turn on the television in this day and age, there is a news article regarding mental health that is being broadcast. An individual with a well-known name discusses his anxiety illness and panic attacks on a particular channel.

It appeared as though everyone, from Marian Keyes to Kristen Bell to Selena Gomez, all of a sudden began talking loudly about the same subject. Although I am attempting to manage my anxiety illness, I must confess that reading these stories gives me hope.

This is because they make me feel as though I am not the only one going through this. On the other hand, when I see this news, I can't help but wonder: does the fact that more and more individuals are feeling comfortable talking about mental health mean that this subject is no longer considered to be taboo?

Issues of mental health were rarely brought up in conversation until quite recently. These topics are discussed in back alleys, where no one should be able to see or hear them; it was a cause of shame that ought to be kept secret or between families.

Therefore, the fact that individuals are more willing to discuss these topics demonstrates that things are shifting in a positive direction.

My own personal experience has shown me that this is not the case; to be more specific, I am able to declare that we are currently at the beginning of the path that we need to go.

It is for this reason that I get a sense of joy whenever I turn on the television and find a story about mindfulness or meditation shown.

Because of its direct connection to the mental health of individuals, meditation is frequently addressed in the media and on social media platforms.

Additionally, writing books and articles about mental health brings the topic directly to the attention of the general public.

People are becoming more familiar with meditation as a result of programmes such as the Meditation App, which provides them with the chance to gaze into their inner world while they are in a public setting.

In light of this, I am reminded on a daily basis that I am not the only person who struggles with the challenges associated with my anxiety disease and my mental health needs.
