Eat a healthy, balanced diet.

These five nutrients work together to build and strengthen tooth enamel and protect the tooth from root to crown. You can get your recommended daily intake of most of these nutrients by eating a wide variety of foods including fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, and oils.

Brush with fluoridated toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice a day.

The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice a day to ensure optimal removal of food particles and plaque.
